PLEASE READ THIS WHOLE PAGE CAREFULLY ALL THE WAY TO THE BOTTOM AS THERE IS A LOT OF IMPORTANT INFORMATION. If you have attended a Heartlight show at the SD County Fair in the past, the procedures are different now, so please read all the information.
A. To better serve Fair guests, the San Diego County Fair is moving to a cashless payment experience for parking, admission tickets, carnival rides & games. Cashless payments are safer and faster, too–avoid wait times at the gate and spend more time enjoying the Fair! There’s no transaction fees for admission or parking. Cash-to-Credit ATM machines will be available in select locations to exchange cash for a debit card. B. PERMISSION SLIP & WAIVER: Please sign the PERMISSION SLIP to let us know your child will be attending. Make sure to include your complete & correct address (including apartment #'s) on the permission slip. You will receive the Fair's waiver from us and the waiver will be stapled to your Fair passes. The waiver MUST BE signed, brought to the Fair and turned in to Heartlight Staff before your child's performance.
C. PASSES: Each Heartlight Student will receive 2 passe to enter the Fairgrounds for FREE. Every student needs a ticket in order to enter the Fairgrounds, however you have the option of using both passes for adult admission and purchasing your student's ticket at the children's admission price. Children 5 & under receive free admission everyday, and children 12 & under are free on FRIDAYS.
D. ABOUT THE STAGE /SHOW: The name of the stage (same as past years) is called the “Albertson’s/Vons Funville Stage” and it is once again located in the KIDS ZONE (the infield area). Be sure to get a program/map as you enter the gates.
E. ARRIVAL: Please arrive to the Fairgrounds and be parked NO LATER than one hour before your child's performance. It takes quite a bit of time to park, get the shuttle, enter the Fair gates, and walk to our stage in the Kids' Zone. You do NOT want to be late for the performance. Arrive at the Funville Stage 15 minutes prior to the start of your child’s performance and then PLEASE FIND SEATS AND SIT WITH YOUR CHILD & FAMILY. Please be respectful of any performance taking place prior to our Heartlight Show. CHILDREN MUST BE SEATED PRIOR TO THE SHOW. THE FAIR HAS ASKED US TO REMIND PARENTS NOT HAVE CHILDREN RUN AROUND ON THE DANCE FLOOR PRIOR TO THE SHOW. We want to make sure we are invited back next year. YOU DO NOT NEED to check in with Heartlight Staff when you arrive. At the start of our show we will call the children by school to meet their instructors in front of the stage.
F. DURING THE SHOW: Students will perform one dance onstage and also a grand finale on the floor with all children present. Parents may not sit on the dance floor as that is used for the children. Please remain seated during the performance. The performance is one hour long.
G. ATTIRE: Children performing can wear any color Heartlight shirt, and athletic shoes or sneakers. Girls wearing skirts: please wear shorts underneath. If it’s a cooler day (some shows are in the early evening) children should wear a long sleeve shirt or light sweater/sweatshirt under their Heartlight shirt. Note: If your child still needs to purchase a shirt, please contact your child’s Heartlight Director as it is Much Preferred for parents to purchase shirts before the performance.
H. ENTERING THE FAIR: You can enter through ANY gate. All other tickets for your group can be purchased at https://www.sdfair.com/p/ticketsfor a quick and easy entrance.

A Couple Other Things:
- PLEASE know that it takes some time to drive to Del Mar, deal with traffic, park, walk through the gates and reach the stage. PLEASE, PLEASE allow plenty of time for this. Your passes are good for all day and night at the Fair.
- Advanced Tickets are encouraged to speed up entering the fairgrounds. Additionally, there will be 60,000 tickets for sale per fair day. There is a chance tickets can sell out on some dates!
- If your show falls on a Friday, a reminder that children 12 & under are free on FRIDAYS
- Please have your child use the restroom before finding seats at the Stage Area. Restrooms are located close by.
